I ran a 5K this morning for the local pregnancy help center and came in first in my age division.
That’s a first for me. I ran it in 34 minutes even with a good size hill at the end (category 5). A year ago I ran a 5K for Jefferson City Diocese Vocations and I believe my time was 42 minutes. It doesn’t seem like much difference but this is a pace of 10:37 per mile. Last years was a pace of 13:05. The average pace of women age 50 – 54 is 13:20 based on 10,000 women of that age group running 5K’s in 2010.
So that’s a major milestone for me. I’ve always been the slow runner in the back and for today, I wasn’t the fastest, but not the slowest either.
It was a good day.
Here’s a picture me (#11) and my LIFE Runner team mates that also ran the 5K…
Outstanding!
Thanks Mike!
I slept 11 hours night after run. Wow, I normally am doing good to get 7 hours in…that run wore me out. Also, went back to look at results from last April’s 5K – time was 43 minutes not 42. Shaved 9 minutes off of 5 K in one year.
Congratulations!
that’s a great speed Anne! Well done. 🙂
Thanks Lizzie! It’s been a long time coming. Have a wonderful Sunday! Hoping you break-through your writers block. Everyone suffers from it one time or other. Leave it and maybe it will find you back. Take care –
Anne
