One of my brother Greg’s favorite Christmas specials as a child was The Little Drummer Boy. Greg would sing the song over and over again. His version always had a lot of…a rum pa pum pum’s.
He’s now 45 and lives with our sister Mary Jo. He doesn’t run marathons… in fact he doesn’t even have a drivers license. He doesn’t say much and on most days wakes up fairly early to get ready for work – he is a no nonsense kind of guy. We all knew he was Mom and Dad‘s favorite child (if they had favorites). We were all okay with that too. In fact, he is everyone’s favorite.
So for Greg and all his friends at the Capital Projects who absolutely love Christmas and all it represents…this ones for you!

We all have special gifts. Greg and his friends were sent to us as just that…a gift.

A meeting was held, quite far from earth

“This special child will need much love”
His progress may seem very slow,
Accomplishments he may not show
And he’ll require extra care
From all the folks he meets down there.
He may not run or laugh or play
His thoughts may seem quite far away
In many ways he won’t adapt,
And he’ll be known as handicapped.
So let’s be careful where he’s sent
We want his life to be content
Please, Lord, find the right parents who
Will do this special job for You.
They will not realize right away
The leading role they’re asked to play
But with this child sent from above
Comes stronger faith and richer love.
And soon they’ll know the privilege given
In caring for this gift from Heaven.
