My legs have been sore following my long run Saturday. On top of that, the fried chicken, mashed potatoes and green bean casserole that I made Sunday, probably hasn’t helped my performance this week either. I think I’m carrying 5 pounds of water around from sore muscles and too much salt from meals.
I ran the 8 miles today really slow-(forgot to turn Map-My-Run App on right away). My legs were heavy and at times I felt like I was pulling a caboose. Here’s the other thing though – I had some respectable hills and ran all of them. Also, I finished probably feeling better than I started out.
As I said, I’m not going to sugar coat it – just tell it like it is.
Back to more sensible eating – low salt, low fat, low sugar and probably less carbs too. I’m from the South and fried chicken was a staple at our house growing up – hard to let go of all that good comfort food.
Tomorrow is an easy 4 miles then Saturday is 17. I have a gift certificate for a massage and will use it Friday to help loosen up those muscles before my Saturday run. I’m just glad I can run those distances – slowly, but still running.
Have a great day!
